Don't worry. According to ~~Russians~~ ideological purists, this outcome is better for my trans son than if Kamala Harris had won.
Now if you'll pardon me, I have to get back to working on moving my family out of this shit-hole country.
I'm trans, but I'd rather kill myself than vote for genocide.
Thank you for making that decision for every trans person in the USA.
Sorry, I made the only decision I could. Every fucking day I listened to the stories and testimony coming out of Gaza. It was either vote against the genocide or do something much more drastic. I wouldn't have survived voting for genocide. I hung on because I chose to believe the Axis of Resistance could hang on and keep fighting until a ceasefire. And they did!
Instead of punching left at people who wouldn't vote for genocide, punch right at the transphobes that want to kill us. If you want to be mad at me, be mad at me. I can handle it. But you're gonna have to work with me if we're gonna get through this together.
We were trying to work together to stop the fascists but too many people like you let perfect be the enemy of the good. Now we can only hope that there will be something to save in four years.
Said nobody ever.
You must have slept through the year prior to the election or been offline. This place was swamped with people who, in the name of saying Palestine was THE issue shouted continuously about 'bLuE mAgA' and how people need to stay away from the democratic party, which when people do that you get this as the alternative.
Conveniently ignoring that Trump is also worse for that whole situation.
People were saying they weren't willing to vote for the Democrats because they supported genocide. Say what you want about that, but it has nothing to do with trans people; literally everyone was perfectly aware they'd be worse off with a Trump victory.
It has to do with trans people because you don't get to pick one candidate on this topic and another on that topic. By outright rejecting the democratic candidate these same people where willing to throw every minority and marginalized group in our own country under the bus for that one ideologically pure stance.
And it isn't even actually ideologically pure, since the Republicans are 1000% worse on Israel and Palestine.
Okay, and?
The statement in the parent comment
is false, because nobody said that. Simple as that. You can take issue with the anti-Democrat stance, but nobody tried to imply it'd result in a better environment for trans people.
Personally, if it's my rights vs being a part of a genocide I'm ready to get my passport revoked.
It's not like I had money to flee the country, and my retirement plan was already to die in the water wars.
I'm sure your ideological purity is a great comfort to my son who has just been legally declared a woman.
I got my name/gender markers updated a few years ago.
The Democrats lost the election due to a combination of their support of Israel (and corresponding economic impacts) and their terrible campaign/no primary. If you're looking for people to blame they're not on your left.
My son. He's a transman. Trump declared him legally a woman yesterday.
Oh, that's a confusing way to put it then. I don't put much stock in what the federal government 'declares', their proclamations don't mean it's reality.
You've got to be fucking kidding me. It means good luck getting a passport or any other federal documentation with your actual gender on it. It means drugs and medical treatments that are approved at the federal level for gender transition won't be available anymore. It means if you live in a state that isn't friendly to trans people, you are going to suffer.
So it means trans people are fucked. How do you not know this?!?
And it's not like the issue with Palestine is better under Trump. We had the choice between a candidate who would at least try to put pressure on Netanyahu... and one who will happily do whatever is asked of him by extreme evangelical Christians who believe Israel needs to be dominant in the Middle East so Jesus will come back.
How the fuck does anyone conclude that the Democrat is bad in comparison to that?
Yeah no shit, I just said I'm looking forward to get my passport with my actual gender on it revoked. Still not willing to reward people for trying to balance demonic foreign policy moves with piecemeal social reforms.
If democrats wanted people to believe that then they should have applied any amount of pressure instead of just shipping billions of dollars in weapons to them while they did their extermination campaign.
They did. You just don't know about it because it was drowned out by the constant noise from the right about how Trump could fix it, and the constant noise from (Russia masquerading as) the left about how the only acceptable solution was completely stopping all support for Israel.
Do you know how to thread this particular needle? Cut off all arms to Israel (the completely unrealistic pretend-solution supposedly from the left) and you get opportunistic invasions and an entire region plunged into war. Give Netanyahu a blank check (as Trump will do) and you get an empowered and expansionist Israel that will entirely wipe out Palestinians and take over the entire territory... which will likely also lead to broader regional conflict.
Which option do you choose? Biden tried to choose neither. He tried diplomacy to get Netanyahu to back down and respect human rights, without cutting off Israel's defense. The fact that it didn't work - because Netanyahu is a corrupt madman - doesn't mean he didn't try.
Pretty sure all the other trans anarchists I know in real life were fully on board for stopping all support for Israel, unless we're all just russian agents to you.
We had to kill people to save people; mental gymnastics and wish-casting. If Israel wasn't doing genocidal shit in the first place there would be no basis for war. Cutting off weapons until they stop seems like a pretty clear way to address the situation, and treating Palestinians like humans is the only way to have any kind of peace last.
Anarchists. That explains it.
So you chose being part of the same genocide and additionally the future genocide of LGBT people in America. Are you fucking joking?
I voted for the non-genocidal candidate (PSL) tyvm
So you voted for Trump.
Trump won by more votes than all the third party votes combined. Third party votes had zero impact in my state too.
You voted for Trump.
You could have voted for Harris, worked hard to convince others to vote for Harris (who instead chose not to vote), and done everything else in your power to prevent Trump from coming into power. You didn't. So you voted for Trump. That's the reality of a two-party system.
No I voted for Claudia de la Cruz
Like I said: Trump.
Again, two-party system. Your implicit vote for Trump didn't count quite as much as an explicit one would, but you still put your weight behind him.
mental gymnastics
Yes, you are absolutely engaged in them, which is understandable as you don't want to shoulder the burden of understanding the role of people who voted like you (or didn't vote) in Trump's ascension.
Now you're complicit with the upcoming genocide of trans people but go ahead and enjoy that warm fuzzy feeling you have from saving Palestine from Kamala Harris.
This time around it's started with Palestinians, democrats acting helpless to stop the genocide (while actually arming it). It does not fill me with confidence that if LGBT people became a political liability that democrats wouldn't unite with the republicans on our extermination too.
