I see a lot of ads these days for fancy mechanical keyboards from numerous brands, but the thing I always wonder about is: how do we know these keyboards dont have keyloggers or other spying tech built into them?

i thought maybe an insinuated extra peripheral could possibly craft/push exfiltration packets via OS calls.

I'm not saying it's impossible. But I tried and failed. It's not part of the native HID spec, as far as I could tell, last time I tried. So it would, I think, at least require a serious undiscovered vulnerability.
