This Week in Plasma brings file transfer progress graphs, per-virtual-desktop custom tile layouts, improved KRunner search result ordering, and much more to your favourite desktop.

@kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social Let’s hope Wayland sees improvements by Plasma 7 then. Plasma’s implementation is solid, but it’s still limited by the Wayland protocol and ecosystem, which are just deficient enough to me that I can’t happily use it.

Interesting, I'm super happy on Wayland with Plasma, what problems are you experiencing / what features are you missing?

[-] hermelino@feddit.org 2 points 2 weeks ago

For me it's two things:

  • Wayland cannot keep window positions and dimensions between sessions.
  • Keepassxc's autofill is not working.

Ohhh, that's what it is! I've used a multi-monitor setup recently and was wondering why (sometimes) windows position where nit remembered. Welp, seems like the bug report about this so still open in KDE and will be fixed eventually ...

I've also been using Plasma on Wayland with Nvidia with very little problems for at least a couple years

@jlow I wrote a blog post about it a couple weeks ago with a list at the beginning: https://drinkybird.net/2025/03/back-to-x11/
