I was just kidding. ๐ But also there is surely a huge number of people who are simply unaware of any alternatives.
It's almost like those people aren't encouraged to seek out alternatives...like all their peers just called them idiots or something
It was a joke.
But yes, exactly. The reason is most definitely that nobody tells them there are alternatives. People think Windows "is the computer". Much like they can't separate the monitor from "the computer". And these things are hard, even though they are obvious to us who know.

don't some linux window manager also makes the windows key have a similar function?
Yeah, which is why I don't understand why anybody would want to disable it.
