This looks way to break with chip restrictions bound by the leading software package AUTOSAR. But I think, like all FOSS, will benefit everyone in the end.

Dunno. Open source OS means easy custom ROMs (with exception of whited00r, which you can call somewhat a custom ROM).

I mean easy to fork but to install might be a challenge and may also put you at risk with the legal system.
