Just had one single person go through my entire profile and downvote every comment and post except for those that I assume they're de-federated from. And now, thanks to this nifty little tool at votes.gregtech.eu, you can see exactly who has voted on your posts in most cases. So I was able to block this person and avoid having a stalker downvoting everything I post.

IMO, users like this should be named and shamed so that everyone else has a chance to block them and remove bad actors from their Lemmy experience. We've got !fediblock@lemmy.dbzer0.com for admins to sus out bad instances. Why not something like that but for users to sus out other users? Or would that count as doxxing or something?

  1. Had a feeling that something like that would be the answer. One area that Bluesky has the Fediverse beat is blocklists of users that are there for bad intentions. At least they're not interested in protecting abusive users there.
  2. Will do. I have my doubts about how effective it will be but I'll try.
  3. Thanks for the info, I was wondering why the occasional post doesn't work. Still useful for catching assholes that want to ruin the experience for everyone else though.
  4. So what does blocking actually do if the person is still able to interact with your posts? Is it just a placebo then?

All blocking does is hide that person’s posts & comments from you.
