Just because something is old knowledge doesn't mean it's common knowledge!
People get so weird about that. Yeah I knew, but before I knew, I didn't.
because they are focused on themselves. They don't want to see on a public forum an information they already know, not thinking that this information may be useful to others. It's the Me Me Me attitude.
Knowing about something before others (and bragging about it) gives people a feeling of self-satisfaction.
