6. All posts must be news articles.
No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.
7. No duplicate posts.
If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.
8. Misinformation is prohibited.
Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.
9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.
All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.
10. Don't copy entire article in your post body
For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Not only tourism. Scientists are cancelling conference attendances of fear they‘ll get harassed or deported (which already happened). It’s such a shame because science need exchange.
Just had a prominent colleague return from a conference in Italy. He was stopped at the border and questioned for several hours, making him miss his flight.
Was your colleague stopped by the Italian border police or the ones in the USA?
Stopped at re-entry to the US.
Yes, so presumably your colleague went through the passport control when leaving Italy and when entering the United States. I am asking where the long delay happened.
And he’s getting a lawyer and suing them right?

Trump sues everyone in this country. You could sue anyone for anything sue them do something anything. Literally anything is better than nothing - write a fucking article! I keep hearing about everyone’s fucking friends. I don’t care about your fucking friend. Where are they? Why aren’t they fucking writing something? Why aren’t they doing altering? Literally anything with their position they have that’s much higher than the people I’m working with now who are attempting to help and they’re literally artists and people that work in grocery stores and retired folks meanwhile, scientists are getting stopped at the border and their friends are and telling us this bullshit while I don’t see any first hand accounts barely and when I do, they are just on social media!
They have power in their position where the fuck are they? Why aren’t they fucking telling everybody? Why aren’t they fucking suing them? Do something, anything, just do something!
and farm laborers, the owners are whining they have to do ACTUAL FARM WORK NOW.
They'll have to hold their conferences somewhere where they're safer.
Republicans are actively anti-science and defunding scientific research wherever they can, so they won't care.
its actually worst than that, scientists are fleeing the us, to europe, nz, or australia, and canada. the only STEM majors that can flee are the ones with BS/AND MS degrees, theres very little market them out there.
We are lucky that we live in a time with the Internet so they can still communicate with each other pretty easily. In the past when things like this would happen they didn't even get that. Hopefully we can still make progress in spite of this
