Everything I downvoted was because I genuinely do not think it's good. Like meat is not going to cure cancer.

I actually really like eating meat I just try to life a life that gives others room to enjoy this earth too without mutually destroying it.

Please tell me how I am the asshole :)

Thank you for making it clear the bot didn't make a mistake in removing you from the community

[-] spankmonkey@lemmy.world -2 points 10 months ago

The bot doesn't read intent, it just bans anyone who doesn't agree with your misinformation.

[-] jet@hackertalks.com 3 points 10 months ago

I'm using a heuristic to approximate if a user will be a positive community member.

I'm sure there is room for improvement

You have demonstrated you would not be a good fit for the community.

Right now I don't see a problem with the heuristics

[-] spankmonkey@lemmy.world 0 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

Anyone who disagrees with you isn't a good fit.

[-] jet@hackertalks.com 4 points 10 months ago

Actually I welcome disagreement. I love a good debate. It's good for the community to have threads with lots of comments, and that usually only happens when people disagree

I'm about building a community. Which means growing participation. If every post in the community gets dog oiled immediately then it discourages other people from genuinely participating.

I see moderating as a form of gardening, you have to cultivate the garden you want, weed it, nurture it.

[-] Rekorse@sh.itjust.works 0 points 10 months ago

Thats your problem, its not gardening and people aren't plants. Plants don't give a shit if you act like a self-righteous asshole.

[-] jet@hackertalks.com 1 points 10 months ago

What is your thesis? Points don't matter?

If they don't matter, then it doesn't matter that people can't send negative waves to my community - Right? Fair is fair.

[-] Rekorse@sh.itjust.works 2 points 10 months ago

Are you collecting points? How do you gauge when your communities are successful? Would you like to share your metrics for success?

[-] jet@hackertalks.com 0 points 10 months ago

Conversations in the community.

[-] Rekorse@sh.itjust.works 1 points 10 months ago

Did I just break your llm or something? All of a sudden you don't make sense? I had some simple questions there chief.

I don't think you understand what the word metric is. I'm not sure why I'm still replying to you.

I don't think you know what "measure" or "something" mean.

[-] jet@hackertalks.com 1 points 10 months ago

The number of conversations in a community is a measure of something.

[-] Rekorse@sh.itjust.works 3 points 10 months ago

Well then our conversation is a positive for this community, apparently.

[-] jet@hackertalks.com 1 points 10 months ago

Oh yeah! This has been great, all the activity and attention has tripled my subscribers since this YPTB post was made.

[-] Rekorse@sh.itjust.works 3 points 10 months ago

And with that, Jets ego grew five times as big that day!

[-] jet@hackertalks.com -1 points 10 months ago

Sure, why not! Engagement is engagement.

Anyway - yes, conversations are what good moderators are looking for in their communities.

[-] Rekorse@sh.itjust.works 3 points 10 months ago

You are the goodliest moderator.

[-] Amnesigenic@lemmy.ml -2 points 10 months ago

Lol another lie, I bet you don't even follow a carnivore diet

[-] jet@hackertalks.com 1 points 10 months ago

I do actually!

You don't have to agree with my choices, but you should at least give me the benefit of the doubt.

[-] Amnesigenic@lemmy.ml -1 points 10 months ago

Two more links that do nothing to prove your claims lol, you're a joke

[-] jet@hackertalks.com 0 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

It demonstrates I've been following a carnivore diet, at this point your just denying everything I say... which is rather childish.

[-] Amnesigenic@lemmy.ml -2 points 10 months ago

It demonstrates that you claim to have been following a diet, with no actual evidence to prove it, fucking duh.

Ye Power Trippin' Bastards

1513 readers
2 users here now

This is a community in the spirit of "Am I The Asshole" where people can post their own bans from lemmy or reddit or whatever and get some feedback from others whether the ban was justified or not.

Sometimes one just wants to be able to challenge the arguments some mod made and this could be the place for that.

Posting Guidelines

All posts should follow this basic structure:

  1. Which mods/admins were being Power Tripping Bastards?
  2. What sanction did they impose (e.g. community ban, instance ban, removed comment)?
  3. Provide a screenshot of the relevant modlog entry (don’t de-obfuscate mod names).
  4. Provide a screenshot and explanation of the cause of the sanction (e.g. the post/comment that was removed, or got you banned).
  5. Explain why you think its unfair and how you would like the situation to be remedied.

Rules

Expect to receive feedback about your posts, they might even be negative.

Make sure you follow this instance's code of conduct. In other words we won't allow bellyaching about being sanctioned for hate speech or bigotry.

YPTB matrix channel: For real-time discussions about bastards or to appeal mod actions in YPTB itself.
