Please note that the official title of the article is:

Yevgeny Prigozhin: Wagner chief presumed dead after Russia plane crash.

Decided not to delete this post due to the many comments and discussions.

The whole thing is sus:

  • Prigozhin stages a march onto Moscow
  • Putin runs away to St Petersburg, where a couple vans full of allegedly Prigozhin's money get found, so he just stops short of Moscow and turns around
  • Prigozhin runs away to Belarus, Wagner to split between "core" in Belarus and the rest getting incorporated into Russia's military
  • Russia blocks food export from Ukraine, holds a conference with African countries where it promises to send food
  • Niger sees a military coup, asks for Wagner help, Russia agrees, Prigozhin releases video of himself in Africa

...just a couple days later...

  • Prigozhin in a private plane over Russia, north of Moscow, in route to St Petersburg, crashes and dies along with other Wagner leadership

...wait, what? How? Why? Wasn't he just in Africa, and not welcome in Russia?

You know you can rename posts with clickbait titles right? Maybe just ask the user to rename and kick or ban him if he does not comply.

I did message him, bot no response as of yet.

While the article is named that, his death has been confirmed by the Russian government and afaik the genetic samples are being analysed

[-] quinten@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

As of this moment, there is no credible news source that confirms with 100% certainty that he's dead. It's likely, but not confirmed.

When making claims like this, always provide your source.

Quite literally the FAVT(FAVT.gov.ru) telegram channel https://t.me/favt_ru/1278. They have the channel linked on the website😐

FAVT(FAVT .gov.ru ) telegram channel

So... any credible sources?

[-] quadropiss@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

"🤓"

Anyway, then what's more credible than an official source who's been literally fearing this old smart ass man? Make a realistic example

[-] jarfil@lemmy.world 0 points 1 year ago

I think you might could a word... I'm really not sure what you mean. 🤨

What's more credible than an official source that happens to hate and fear prigozhin

[-] jarfil@lemmy.world -1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Ah. Well, they seemed to hate, fear, and love him at the same time, so... anything more credible, would be a source with no stake in the matter, or at least multiple sources with different stakes each.

As thing are, Prigozhin could be hiding somewhere, maybe with a cut off finger or not, maybe paid off to lay low, or just with enough money to retire, maybe helped by the Kremlin, maybe by his own people.

There are just too many possibilities.

Regardless, the article being pointed to makes a weaker claim than the Lemmy title. Bad practice in general, even if it's known from other sources.
