Welcome to MoG!
Meanwhile On Grad
Documenting hate speech, conspiracy theories, apologia/revisionism, and general tankie behaviour across the fediverse. Memes are welcome!
What is a Tankie?
Alternatively, a detailed blog post about Tankies.
(caution of biased source)
Basic Rules:
Sh.itjust.works Instance rules apply! If you are from other instances, please be mindful of the rules. — Basically, don't be a dick.
Hate-Speech — You should be familiar with this one already; practically all instances have the same rules on hate speech.
Apologia — (Using the Modern terminology for Apologia) No Defending, Denying, Justifying, Bolstering, or Differentiating authoritarian acts or endeavours, whether be a Pro-CCP viewpoint, Stalinism, Islamic Terrorism or any variation of Tankie Ideology.
Revisionism — No downplaying or denying atrocities past and present. Calling Tankies shills, foreign/federal agents, or bots also falls under this rule. Extremists exist. They are real. Do not call them shills or fake users as it handwaves their extremism.
Tankies can explain their views but may be criticised or attacked for them. Any slight infraction on the rules above will immediately earn a warning and possibly a ban.
Off-topic Discussion — Do not discuss unrelated topics to the point of derailing the thread. Stay focused on the direct content of the post as opposed to arguing.
You'll be warned if you're violating the instance and community rules. Continuing poor behaviour after being warned will result in a ban or removal of your comments. Bans typically only last 24 hours, but each subsequent infraction will double the amount. Depending on the content, the ban time may be increased. You may request an unban at any time.
Your mind is clearly made up already, but here's an easy to find article that covers exactly what I'm talking about.
Can you go into detail about what 'Israel greatly exaggerates' means exactly?
Since according to that article, it seems to imply that it was an individual's mistake as opposed to Israel.
Furthermore, it was Israeli government agencies that disputed the claims made by these two individuals. So, I don't see how Israel can greatly exaggerate the claims while also disputing them -- it just doesn't make sense.
You don't see how they could because you don't understand propaganda. By promoting the fictional stories, including the false accounts of rape and the baby in the oven and other blatantly false stories they can fall back on the ones that did happen, but the false stories will stick in people's minds. How long has the old 'human shields' chestnut been used to excuse civlian deaths in hospitals and homes of Palestians? How many times has Israel blamed someone else when they shoot into crowds trying to get food? The lies stuck with the general population as long as they are able to get out first as kong as there is one true case that ends up proving the lies could possibly be plausible.
People remember what they want to remember, including made up exaggerations intended to dehumanize others of things that actually happened.
Do you think there is Palestinian propaganda as well?
Yes, because I'm not a fucking idiot. Everyone does propaganda, and some are worse than others because they dehumanize instead of shining a light on something and some are more effective than others.
That doesn't mean we shouldn't point out these instances of it being used and why it is harmful in the context being discussed.
Do you think you've been misled by any propaganda?
Of course I have fallen for at least some propaganda at various points in time, because I'm not a fucking idiot and realize that it works.
What is your end goal here?
Since I think you have fallen for some of it. Can you go into detail about the 'Israel shooting into crowds trying to get food'?
