The right always has wealth and power; progressive forces are always on the outside of wealth and power. We can't take it "back", it was never ours. This is a dead end.
What the article totally overlooks is labor organizing. The people you work with are a point of social contact that share your material conditions that you spend time around every day, if you want to change people's minds you can actually do it in the workplace.
