Just to clarify, you mean the harassment alienated contributions, not the freedesktop ban, right?
I'm not sure I understand your question but to clarify :
Hyperland team and comunity members harassed FDO members and got banned from the freedesktop comunity.
The harasement from hyperland members pushed away fdo contributors who were working on wayland protocols
