I'm surprised that someone that would use Anna's Archive, would use Google as their search engine.

[-] weirdo_from_space@sh.itjust.works 70 points 2 months ago

Or use a search engine to access it in general. Anna's Archive itself is a search engine, it's better to just bookmark it and search for stuff directly from there.

Is it on a stable website, or does it change sometimes? And what's the address?

[-] mic_check_one_two@lemmy.dbzer0.com 19 points 2 months ago

This was linked in like the first sentence of the article, and it has an up-to-date list of the current URLs.

[-] lemming@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 months ago

Thanks, it would never occur to me to look for it on Wikipedia.

It's been communal tradition ever since ThePirateBay got into these "DNS wars" and "Domain switching". In the end, TPB kind of faded out. But same practice goes for many pirate sites. That's the point :) so, be aware it's a great way to find URLs for these o7

Is stable for me for a long time already. Maybe you need to switch DNS, as some ISPs have a DNS block. But one should switch DNS regardless.

I've seen a lot of very tech savvy people still using google and chrome to this day. It's the top search engine. The majority of people use it, including pirates.

[-] Auli@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 months ago

Sometimes I'm just lazy. Don't use chrome but google as a search engine since it's the default and sometimes I can't be bothered to change it.

[-] sidebro@lemmy.zip 12 points 2 months ago

They probably don't, tbh. Question is if this will even affect the traffic in any way.

If I want to find a pdf, whether it be a book, comic or research paper, I use Yandex - Google has been unusable in that way for a long time now.

[-] chgxvjh@hexbear.net 5 points 2 months ago

I used to find books and papers by googling the title and clicking on results. It's not that crazy.

[-] tigeruppercut@lemmy.zip 4 points 2 months ago

I usually use ddg but sometimes it can't find things in non-English languages whereas google has the results I'm looking for.
