So I just read Bill Gates' 1976 Open Letter To Hobbyists, in which he whines about not making more money from his software. You know, instead of being proud of making software that people wanted to use. And then the bastard went on and made proprietary licences for software the industry standard, holding back innovation and freedom for decades. What a douche canoe.

Yes and capitalism has all the incentives to create oligarchies.

So does socialism and communism.

Sounds like the sole source of your "education" was the willful swallowing of propaganda. It really is gross how these know-nothing sycophants for capitalism have infested lemmy. Capitalism is oligarchy, it always without fail trends towards monopoly no many how reformist "regulations" succdems try to throw at it. Communism (via socialism) not only does not lead to oligarchy, it is the only proven workable means of preventing it in a capitalist-dominated world. If you could pry your tongue off the capitalist's boot for few seconds you might be able to learn something about how the world actually works.

Outside of your fantasy world, it has been proven that it does. Stop living in some Utopia of the mind.
