December 25th, 2025: Merry Christmas
I've had the soap of Friends to the End since July and asked my wife for the aftershave and EdT for Christmas. She went above and beyond and got the balm too, so now I have a Quadfecta!
This was just a perfect shave. I love this scent with it's warmth and maturity, and the razor felt fantastic. I stropped it on poly/leather @ 20/60 and finally it felt like I remember it after the first time I honed it. When I got this razor it had a chip so I removed a bunch of material (from both the edge and spine to keep the geometry stock) with a 600 grit diamond plate. Then I spent a bunch of time on a 10k synthetic because that's the only "finishing" stone that I own (for now). I immediately fell in love with how this razor felt despite the sus nature of my honing progression, but subsequent honings haven't resulted in the same magic -- until now!
Thinking about my strop -- I just looked at the eBay listing and realized that I've been using the polypropylene side before switching to leather. This strop also includes a cotton side, but it requires you to hold the leather part out of the way. So that's cool, I can try cotton and see if it makes a difference. The polypropylene fabric is thicker and rougher than the cotton.
