I really like the pivotal albums in a bands discography, the blend point between two stylistic areas, recognizably that band, but also signaling a potentially very different version of that band in the future.

The Beatle’s Revolver is an example, or Radiohead’s OK Computer. I wonder what it must have been like to have experienced those albums as they came out.

I see White Pony in a similar way. Unlike the other two examples, I got to experience this shift in real time, and I’ll never forget the first time I listened to this record.
