Motherfuckers actually believe they own all the Americas...
There is a lot more than just America, in the hemisphere... This is a thread to half of the world and a seed to use as an excuse to attack anybody and any country that don't align with that
Including most of the other nations considered super powers. China are Russia are in "his hemisphere"
No, they have their own.
The Earth has 3 hemispheres, everyone knows that
I mean, it has an infinite number of hemispheres depending on which plane with two points along the equator you use to slice the earth in half
buth trump is missing both of hemisphere of his brain.
The vast majority of the world's populations lives in the northern hemisphere. Trump just threatened 87% of the worlds population
He’s referring to the Western Hemisphere, not the Northern, per the “Monroe Doctrine” that they’ve been going on about lately. It’s some of that manifest destiny kind of bullshit that insists that the entire Americas, Greenland, etc. must be under the US sphere of influence.
Whoever combined the words "western" and "hemisphere" was a moron of epic proportions with no understanding for spherical geometry.
Spheres can only be sliced one way?? Is that some geometrical definition previously unknown to maths? It’s quite obvious what is meant when western hemisphere is said, you’re either stupid or being deliberately obtuse.
The problem isn't the spheres, the problem is the use of a relative direction with a hemisphere. Even though I have since learned that someone actually came up with a generally valid definition of the "western" hemisphere, the definition of longitude 0 (prime meridian) is completely arbitrary. From fascist 'murica p.o.v., Russia is "the west"
It just means west of Greenwich, chill out.
Yes it's arbitrary, the reasons are more historiographical rather than geographical, but back when the sun never set on the British empire, it seemed as good a line as any to the people making the rules at the time.
There's also no geometric reason why we divide days into 24 hours, but the ancient Egyptians did it so we still do. Why is a week 7 days? Why are there 12 months in a year? Why is a centimeter or a kilogram precisely what it is?
It's all arbitrary, but that doesn't make it any less useful as a standardized concept.
You don't say, smartypants. Your comparisons don't make sense. I didn't complain about the prime meridian, I said that associating the concept of "west" (or east) with a hemisphere is a moronic take.
No, you said whoever came up with the idea was a moron of epic proportions. And your explanation as to why was directly due to the arbitrariness of the prime meridian.
In geospatial terms, anything to the west of the prime meridian has a longitudinal coordinate of n°W, where 0°<n<180°. Anything east of the prime meridian is likewise n°E. Hence, eastern and western hemispheres.
Yes, the western hemisphere is to the east of Fiji. No, that doesn't change anything.
I shouldn't have to break it down into such basic terms for such a smartypants as you, so hopefully this doesn't come as an insult to your intelligence.
Look up Dunning Kruger syndrome - although I suspect it won't lead you to any sudden realizations.
You might as well say that into a mirror, because you're obviously projecting.
Actually, russia is "the north". Its faster to go over the north pole to get there. (If you ignore Alaska of course)
They mean the western hemisphere, as another user said down the thread, this is because of the Monroe doctrine. But yeah, maybe implicitly they also mean the northern as well.

Unfortunately, power is not given. It's taken.
Truly dark ages are coming.
Because they “do”. They literally just proved it.
And Europe/EU and the UN let them as shown by the lack of consequences they faced. Heck, they didn’t even get a “strong condemnation” by a bunch of people in power. They actually got PRAISE for what they did
... always has been.
