I don't play with mods, never buy anything with micro transactions, and performance tends to be better for me than Java.
Also, I play it with my kids, who have Android tablets, so I'm kind of stuck playing Bedrock anyway if I want them to join me.
You actually do have the geyser compatibility plugin for Bedrock clients to join Java Edition servers (also community optimization mods that allow the game to run circles around default Bedrock performance). But I guess if you've got family, that does kind of tie your hands, since you want to streamline stuff for kids.
