English baked beans are trash. Barbecue Baked beans heated up out in a smoker with a bit of shredded pork or brisket in it are fantastic, and if you disagree with that, you and your bean mash can go burn in hell ;-p
Boston baked beans with pork belly also deserves a mention.
They're almost the same thing. Sauces are just a bit different.
I'd say the seasoning is different enough to call it a distinct thing, though the cooking method is identical. Like New York vs Chicago tavern style pizza.
