For me, it’s access to cheese. There’s no one that sells cheese that isn’t queso fresco in my neighborhood and I can’t (don’t want to) use it for pizzas or pastas.

Lack of access to good cheese is just one of the reasons sandwich culture in rural Japan is terrible. If you'd told me that by living here, of all the food I'd miss that sandwiches would be at the top I wouldn't have believed it, but they're such a fundamental part of a US diet that I think we overlook them.
