It would be way cheaper to make the stand out of plywood and then paint it.

You prompted me to check plywood prices. They've really dropped. I agree.

Some good photos and I think this would be readily reproducible. Not sure it'd be strong enough though.

Worth looking into... Or just buy a hook. Lol
