Why? Most democratic officials are closeted republicans.

Right. How else is Jeffries and Chuck going to afford their beach front property in Gaza if they don't receive million from the fossil fuel lobby.

[-] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 4 points 5 days ago

they just ask aipac for more dollars, which is basically us tax money.

Don’t know about that part. It’s just rooting for a team to stand up literally and it ain’t happening as much, preventing unnecessary spending, marginalizing communities, is been the rapport for either parties. Like this is a hot take but all party motto/slogan is tip toeing too much. Some real change or something needs to happen to garter my favor.

Do you think chuck cares about Palestinian people. Dude spear headed so many weapon sales to Isreal. He wants every Palestinian dead. Jeffries is doing it for the money.

[-] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 2 points 5 days ago

no why would he, he made it clear he only supports israel above all else.

This is why I love this community, you learn so much more about politicians who favor other countries constituents vs their own or their own fictitious family that they wrote 20+ years to connect to locals..

from what ive heard about mr israel-schumer, this is only job ever, after college someone gave him a way to work his way into politics.

This isn't really true, though some are. It's just that both Democrats and Republicans are almost all owned by the owner class, so support any corporate protections. That isn't anything that Republicans own. It's both parties.

Discussion of climate, how it is changing, activism around that, the politics, and the energy systems change we need in order to stabilize things.

As a starting point, the burning of fossil fuels, and to a lesser extent deforestation and release of methane are responsible for the warming in recent decades: Graph of temperature as observed with significant warming, and simulated without added greenhouse gases and other anthropogentic changes, which shows no significant warming

How much each change to the atmosphere has warmed the world: IPCC AR6 Figure 2 - Thee bar charts: first chart: how much each gas has warmed the world. About 1C of total warming. Second chart: about 1.5C of total warming from well-mixed greenhouse gases, offset by 0.4C of cooling from aerosols and negligible influence from changes to solar output, volcanoes, and internal variability. Third chart: about 1.25C of warming from CO2, 0.5C from methane, and a bunch more in small quantities from other gases. About 0.5C of cooling with large error bars from SO2.

Recommended actions to cut greenhouse gas emissions in the near future:
