First asparagus

First asparagus spear popping out of the ground. Was a bit worried as I didn't spread the roots as much as I should have, but I think they're going to be ok. Hopefully the other 23 crowns grow soon.
Are you talking about the 2nd pic, the crowns (bare roots of 1-2 year old asparagus plant)? Or something else?
Yes, the second pic. Today I learned asparagus crowns are a thing!
They're more expensive than seeds. I paid $3 each. But it cuts a year or 2 off the time before you can harvest. Even using crowns, it'll be 3 years before I really get any to eat.
