Can you imagine, years ago how the internet was before? We know Facebook, Twitter, Tiktok, Youtube. We knew blogger, Tumblr, Skyrock... and long before, it was the forum era as phpBB..and mail-lists.
And now with ActivityPub, we are reshaping the web, and achieving much more with lots of freedom. So thank you all, and welcome ๐ค๐

MODERATORS
You can look that up yourself. Click on Communities -> All Communities and search for "FOSS" and it'll show them. Another search term would be "open-source".
Edit: And I'm not a mod here, but I think you'll want to ask these questions in a different community. !newcomers@piefed.zip or !piefed_help@piefed.social are good for beginner questions.

Thank you very much for creating that link. I don't think there's any loose community on floss/open source where anything and everything can be discussed.
Lul wat. This site searches only on the lemmy side of things, if I search for "opensource" there are 33 communities: https://lemmyverse.net/communities?query=opensource
It's literally one of the most discussed topic here. There are multiple general communities, one of the most active is !opensource@lemmy.ml , another one is !foss@beehaw.org
