This is volunteer work! He can stop doing it at literally any time! No one is forcing him to do this!
The more you people go on about how much he has to work, the more I'm thinking that this whole open source thing is a huge human rights violation.
He was literally asked to come out of retirement dude, cause the people with the actual fucking expertise with these tools are a handful. So in some ways, you are benefiting from the expertise of a handful of people and don't even realize it.
Like have you even looked at the rsync code?
And he can say no! I don't understand how you don't get this. He's not being paid, he can't be fired. He does not have to work like Sonic on a hamster wheel, he just doesn't.
Yes cause there were so many devs rushing to push contributions for fixes that were so desperately needed. Go back to sniffing petrol, at this point you've killed off too many braincells to do anything else.
There don't. need. to be. fixes.
You are the one driving this poor man like a slave, I don't understand! Just let him chill.
There have been long standing CVEs you know what that is right?
You some kind of state operator? Looking to make the next xz exploit buddy?
So then you fix them if you want them so badly. Why are you forcing this poor guy not to go sailing? You're killing his dreams, man. The work can be done tomorrow.
I have to wonder, if the only solution is Tridgell + AI, what is your plan after you've finished killing the man by stress-induced cardiac arrest? There will be a lot of unaddressed CVEs piling up after that, I'll tell you.
Lmao you're acting as tho I extended the invitation to him myself. Stop focusing your rage on me and focus one the main problem. And stop being an entitled brat who wants everything their way.
Also in my opinion use all the fucking AI to make FOSS software bug free. More bugfree software is better for everyone.
Between the two of us, you're the only one acting like he's being whipped and chained by the community into making a bash util slightly more safe than it was. I can wait- longer‐ you know?
If my man is feeling overworked, he should slow down a bit. If you need these updates now, that sounds like a you problem, dude. Stop acting like an entitled brat about it.
