Did it used to work? That sounds more like there's a lag in the app updating. Likely your HA updated, but the fdroid version is an older version and it wants you to update, but the update isn't available on fdroid yet so it's pointing you to the play store
it seemed like home assistant handed me over to some official google matter onboarding app included in android.
maybe this is something they can integrate into home assistant proper eventually?
