Isn't FSR cross platform?

I don't understand why only implementing FSR is a bad thing when DLSS is exclusive to Nvidia and if it wasn't the current punching bag Starfield, I doubt anyone would kick up a fuss about it.

I'm saying this as someone that has an Nvidia GPU and hates the actual hardware lockout of G-Sync monitors.

Yea, choosing the open feature over the exclusive one is actually the right move

Does it matter?

If it's not cross platform, the blame for this instance goes to Bethesda, but it's a pain in the ass that there isn't a cross platform solution. If it is cross platform, the blame maybe goes to NVIDIA for not implementing something to support FSR, but maybe the blame still lies with Bethesda for not supporting FSR on an NVIDIA GPU.

But does this instance really matter? The point of the article is that PC gaming features shouldn't be locked to individual specific setups and peripherals. Either way you cut it, some gamers are getting fucked because of some form of bureaucratic BS.

IMO, getting into the weeds of one specific example distracts from the crux of the argument - this just shouldn't be a thing. At all.
