Be it manga, manwha or manhua, what are some good villainess stories.
Im specifically looking for things that try to innovate in some aspect or that has a quirk that really makes it stand out to you, those that aren't your run of the mill "revenge, gets the prince, uses knowledge to humiliate everyone" kind of cliche story.
But that doesn't really matter, just recommend whatever story you have enjoyed in the genre if you like, even share your opinions on the genre.
Let's talk about villainesses!
This is a tough one. I’ve read a good amount of villainess mangas and tbh they all sort of blend together at some point. They are all so similar it was hard telling them apart after a while, especially if new chapters don’t come very often. I’ve stopped following all but two - “The Banished Villainess! Living the Leisurely Life of a Nun Making Revolutionary Church Food” and “I'm in Love with the Villainess”.
The former is not all that innovative, but the direction is slightly more refreshing than the usual. I wouldn’t say I recommend it but I prefer it over something like “My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!”
The latter has a more unique premise and the art is better than most villainess mangas. Yuri might put some ppl off, but if you’re ok with it, this is probably the one villainess manga I’d recommend
Note: I almost never read anything with less than 20 chapters, so maybe there are some good, new villainess mangas out there that I haven’t read. Looking forward to other ppl’s comments!
(Just in case, this is a different account do to VLemmy going down)
Will check out Leisurely Life of a Nun.
As for i'm in love with the villainess, I already read it when it had up to 22 chapters, as you say, art was really good, and over all, I really enjoyed it. I'm a sucker for yuri stories.
thoughts on Im in love with the villainess
I loved how magic was a new discovery that was threatening the social hierarchy and nobles were being threatened at that particular point, I liked the parallels it made with the illustration. The heroine starting as a noblesse obligue kind of noble that slowly starts seeing commoners as equal human beings was also cute. The incest plot point really took me by surprise but it wasnt played for laughs or a wtf moment, it was a serious part of the plot and had a lot of significance, I wish they had dropped clues before or built that as a twist.
