Don't forget that time when installing steam on Linux Mint would prompt you to uninstall gnome, and Linus (of Linus Tech Tips) got burned because he didn't read the confirmation message.
That was not Linux Mint but Pop! OS.
You're right. I somehow remember it as Linux Mint.
In the same series Luke was using Mint on his rig
