100% that, plus more competition.

There was a point where I had planned on getting a tesla for my next car, but now I'm avoiding it like the plague.

Next year? I think. A few manufacturers will adopt Tesla's charging platform as standard, effectively creating a North American standard and giving Tesla the W. But this is a good thing, Tesla's supercharger stations are the only ones that consistently work. The cars are garbage, but they got the charging thing down. So if you're in the market now, maybe wait for that change to drop. In the short term it's via an adapter but in the next few years you'll be able to plug your car directly in to the Tesla stations.
