Welcome to the News community!
Rules:
1. Be civil
Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.
2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.
Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.
3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.
Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.
4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.
Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.
5. Only recent news is allowed.
Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.
6. All posts must be news articles.
No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.
7. No duplicate posts.
If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.
8. Misinformation is prohibited.
Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.
9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.
All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.
10. Don't copy entire article in your post body
For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.
"The United States has intelligence that shows that Hamas has been using hospitals in Gaza, including Al-Shifa, as command centers and ammunitions depots, a spokesman for the National Security Council said on Tuesday." from https://www.nytimes.com/2023/11/14/world/hamas-hospitals-gaza-israel.html
The IDF is currently fighting to secure Al-Shifa hospital and protect patients and staff from Hamas, hopefully they are successful with minimal casualties.
This utter nonsense aside, he was killed in his home.
The IDF is targeting physicians and journalists in homes and wiping out whole families.
Fuck the IDF.
Speaking of which:

And Fuck Hamas for using hospitals like this.
Why is this upvoted? Do we know this for fact?
It's fine to say fuck the IDF, there's no problem with that. Will you also condemn Hamas terrorists whose October 7th attacks caused the current Israeli response? The Hamas terrorists targeted regular people in their homes, wiped out whole families, targeted young people at a music festival, etc. Will you condemn them the same way you condemn the IDF?
You know, after the Oct. 7 massacre I was very careful when discussing the abuses against Palestinians that led up to it in order to avoid dismissing the legitimate pain the attack had left. And I think you need to work on learning this skill.
A post about the death of a respected care worker is not the time to try to justify the military campaign that killed him.
There are plenty of posts to debate whether this military campaign is anything other than a strongman's effort to inflame a regional holywar to evade accountability for failing Israel and Palestine alike. But in this thread, please respect that people are mourning.
Sure. Can you do the same?
What's the name of that logical fallacy where by there's a false conclusion hiding in one of the premises? I'm stoned but not too stoned to recognize that disproportionate revenge is not an excuse for continuing to kill innocent people
So... The US's statements regarding this conflict are only slightly less worthless than Israeli statements. Until a legitimate third party confirms this it's Israeli propaganda. Doesn't help that their evidence is fabricated, but yeah.
Also, that aside, protect civilians from Hamas? Quick reminder that it's the IDF killing civilians with sniper fire in the hospital.
Also quick reminder that Hamas doesn't really care about hospitals and civilians.
Should be noted that this doesn't change the protections afforded to medical care workers. It is still a war crime.
I feel like this must be the case but I've seen so many people argue otherwise here. Do you have a source for this? It seems obvious but apparently not
It was on a recent PBS NewsHour interview with a human rights lawyer, if I recall. I'll edit this if I can find it from this past week.
Thanks! I saw some comments from lawyers on the news too, seems like there is at least some general agreement.
The amount of bullshit that people believe these days
You know better than the United States government? What intelligence sources do you have, and what is your yearly budget for intelligence operations?
Do you remember weapons of mass destruction?
US Intelligence is sometimes politically motivated. It's hard to tell without any specifics. For example : does "Hospitals" include this hospital?
Or, you know, maybe people exist that do not support war....?
I don't care how you spin it; an eye for an eye only makes everyone blind. Whether or not you think it's justified is irrelevant to the results.
You're aware of the existence of lying, right?
The us also said Israel didn't bomb a hospital but here we are
The explosion that took place in the parking lot of Al-Ahli hospital is widely agreed upon to have come from Palestinians, not Israel. The United States, United Kingdom, France, and Canada all support this position. Hamas terrorists and their supporters support the position that it was struck by Israel.
The US didn't know Hamas was going to attack Israel on October 7th either. Do you really think they went from having basically no intelligence to knowing exactly where Hamas is hiding out now? They've shown that they understand proper opsec.
