8. Misinformation is prohibited.

this is fucking alarming.
"This kid is super smart and managed to get somewhere he wasn't supposed to be. The people protecting that place have billions of dollars, so this kid must suffer. What he didn't was kind of illegal but no one got hurt except the billionaires who want him to suffer. Well, they didn't measurably get hurt, they just are upset about it. What do you say? Life in the Looney bin?"
That's a very distorted description of what's actually happening. The person (he's 18 so no longer really a "kid") had been violent while in custody with dozens of reports of injury or property damage, and continued to express the intent to return to cybercrime as soon as possible. Furthermore, the "life" sentence is only until the doctors think he's no longer a danger. It sounds like this guy is a real piece of work and the sentence is rooted in the goals of rehabilitation and protecting the public rather than some kind of retribution.
I have no opinion on the person in question but depending on how severe their autism is it changes the narrative of physical outbursts a bit.
The cause of the outbursts is understandable, and I empathize. But the outbursts are still outbursts, and we can't pretend they aren't a problem that has to be dealt with because we don't want to mistreat someone with autism. You can ask the world to tolerate your personal mental health issues only so far, and the point where you're breaking shit and causing "injuries" is a line.
For sure. I agree with you. I meant only to say that it might not be so black and white on this one.
Having Autism doesn't excuse or repair physical harm done to others. It's a shame his condition has rendered him unfit to be in society, but it has. I hope treatment can help curb his violent tendencies.
Seriously. Fuck this kid. Section him and keep away from us. Cybercriminals are always getting treated with kid gloves.
I don't think threatening to release customer information is a victimless crime.
The title is editorialized. He was put in a hospital because he attacked people during the arrest and is considered dangerous physically. He hasn't even had a trial for the hacker stuff.
