It was called the Nintendo 64 because it took 64 fingers to play with it.
For real tho, what species was that controller designed for? Ergonomics be damned.
It had 3 configurations for your two hands. 95% of games had you use the middle prong with your left hand and right prong for your right. A handful had you use the left and right prongs (D-pad movements) and one or two used the middle and left (twin stick shooter setup).
