His immunity defense isn’t merely a legal argument. He’s priming his base to back wanton lawbreaking if he wins back the White House.

The fact that so many people support this man is sickening. If he is elected again, fairly, then this country deserves the doom that will follow.

[-] pezhore@lemmy.ml 50 points 10 months ago

If he runs again and loses, I'm not confident that we still won't be fucked. The flat out refusal to recognize losing at all levels will start one hell of a wave of stochastic terrorism.

[-] grue@lemmy.world 39 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

I don't even fucking care. Let the stochastic terrorism come; it's the least-bad alternative on the table at this point.

Make no mistake: capitulating to the fascists in any way is infinitely worse.

[-] pezhore@lemmy.ml 7 points 10 months ago

Absolutely! I refuse to give in because of the risk of what would happen. I just wish we weren't in this situation.

[-] CleoTheWizard@lemmy.world 17 points 10 months ago

Im not confident in that either but this is a situation that the government is likely prepared for. They know that he’s the leader and if you shut him up or take him down then there’s no one to lead or stage coups or collective violence against the state. So his followers are welcome to do whatever they want but it’ll be predictable and infiltrated immediately just like Jan6 was.

However, if he wins there will be no way for the state to oppose him effectively. He’ll gut most of our major departments and do extremely unpopular things without opposition. And we already learned that presidents have far too much unchecked power. If he wins, buckle up.

[-] GilgameshCatBeard@lemmy.ca 21 points 10 months ago

If he wins, It’ll be because of all the gEnoCiDe jOe kids. They’re helping him more than they’ll ever know.

[-] grue@lemmy.world 11 points 10 months ago

On one hand, you're not wrong. On the other hand, Biden could undercut their argument real quick by changing his mind about supporting Netanyahu.

[-] SoylentBlake@lemm.ee 1 points 10 months ago

I think standing against genocide is an admirable thing to do.

I know I know, it's not something that we're used too as Americans. We haven't had justified war since, what, Korea? Kuwait? War for spoils doesn't justify, imo. Helping an invaded ally, does.

Following, Israel's response isn't in line with the Hamas attack. Neither was America's war on Iraq and Afghanistan after 9/11.

What was the stat? A full 60% of Palestinians in Gaza weren't even alive the last time hostilities broke out? But those kids are dying all the same. Bombing out refugee pathways -that Israel dictated even - really, REALLY isn't a good look. That Gaza has no hospitals left? Bibi openly talking about the forced removal of the whole region...that's CLEAR-AS-FUCKING-DAY genocide.

I got nothing against Jews, in fact, the closest people to me outside my blood family are Jewish. I LOVE Jews. I LOVE their perspective and expression of community and family. I fucking admire that in them. idgaf yr religion or where yr ancestors hail from, but after this shit, with the hard-line right and orthodoxy running things (everyone said Bibi sold his soul to make that coalition), if Zionism means imperialism, colonialism, apartheid, and hatred dressed up in whatever dog whistle you choose, then add Zionism to the list of things I dont support. It can share that stage with Nazism, Stalinism, Objectivism, Corporatism, Calvinism and many more other -isms I don't care to search for atm.

You don't get to take help after a tragedy just to recover your strength then seek your turn on top of the wheel of oppression. That gets us nowhere and exposes you as just as bad as your oppressors. Israel has lost any moral ground they might have claimed to have. They're just a terrorist state in my eyes and I don't want my taxes going to fund their hate campaigns.

I am not on the side of hate. Ever. It's that simple. And if that costs gEnOcIdAl jOe, as you say, the election, then, well, he fucking earned that. And RIP America then. If war breaks out in our soil, we'll never see peace on the continent again, not in our lifetimes, not in our children's lifetimes, and all the ecological damage from all that warring will prob ensure that our grandchildren or great-grandchildren will be the last generation.

Since mods are deleting comments here without reason, I’m not allowed to respond to you in disagreement.

[-] jordanlund@lemmy.world 5 points 10 months ago

Not all the mods are willing to put a target on their back by telling trolls to stop being trolls. I prefer responding because I really do believe good moderation is transparent.

In THIS specific case, I COULD remove your comment under rule 4:

"regarding the moderators or meta in content may be removed at any time."

But frankly, I don't find it bothersome enough to do so.

[-] GilgameshCatBeard@lemmy.ca 2 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

Yeah. I’m getting comments deleted with no reasoning. It’s always this way in this community. I’ve had accounts banned for no reasoning. There is an absolute bias here and there’s no denying it.

[-] jordanlund@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

If you had a comment removed, always check the modlog (if it loads!) Not all mods post public comments, but the modlog will have removal reasons. I've been having trouble with the modlog tonight, but I'll see if it can load your stuff.

[-] GilgameshCatBeard@lemmy.ca 0 points 10 months ago

The log points to a comment that was removed, so there’s no way to know what was said.

[-] jordanlund@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago

Generally the log will contain the full comment if it was removed under "Remove Comment".

The bit where it doesn't is if the mod chose "Ban user - x day(s) - Remove Content"

That's why, when it's a ban level offense, I remove the comment first to preserve it in the log, THEN ban the user.

[-] GilgameshCatBeard@lemmy.ca 0 points 10 months ago

I’ve yet to see a removed comment point to whatever comment was removed. So it’s impossible to ever know what was done that was wrong.

[-] jordanlund@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

Oh, it doesn't link to the comment, it links to the comment thread, but the full text of the removed comment is preserved in the modlog which is why the modlog carries a content warning.

[-] jordanlund@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

(phew) Finally got the mod log to load on your account:

https://lemmy.world/modlog?page=1&userId=5357429

You've had 2 comments removed and one post locked, here's what it looks like, let's check this one at a time:

Telling another user you're going to piss all over them and that they deserved it and should enjoy it is, in fact, pretty much the definition of incivility. I didn't remove that comment, but had I seen the report, I would have removed it too.

To be clear, offensive language is not a problem, directing it at other users is the problem.

Mod removed that under rule 1, but I can't tell which community. It doesn't match rule 1 in either Politics or World News. It doesn't look to me to be necessarily a rule breaking comment in the same way the other one is.

[-] GilgameshCatBeard@lemmy.ca 0 points 10 months ago

So again, I have other accounts. Not just this one. And I’ve gotten comments removed from them with no reason.

Additionally…. My comment was in context of what I was responding to. Yet- that comment remains. Only mine was removed.

You people clearly don’t read the discussions, you just knee-jerk react to whiny kids complaining because people are disagree with them. You don’t understand that this is a game to them. They start arguments, and bait people into getting themselves banned because they know there’s a mod bias.

[-] jordanlund@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

We often get reports where it's an internet slap fight top to bottom, and that's not necessarily visible in the mod log.

It IS visible in the reporting system where two people are reporting each other repeatedly and the mods are basically being asked to be mom or dad, the general consensus in those cases is "I don't care who started it, both of you go to your rooms!" :)

Best advice I can give you is do not take the bait, do not feed the trolls. ;)

[-] GilgameshCatBeard@lemmy.ca 0 points 10 months ago

Yeah. I’m be harassed on an other account. I’ve reported this person for spamming/stalking me…. You guys haven’t done shit about. Their comments are still there.

So tell me again how there’s no mod bias?

[-] jordanlund@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

Link me to a thread, I'll take a look.

[-] GilgameshCatBeard@lemmy.ca 1 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

The problem in threads like this is that these kids report everything they disagree with, and people with an ounce of maturity don’t. I’m fine if someone wants to mouth off. So I don’t report it. Yet when I respond in kind, I’m the bad guy- they’re the victim, and my comments get removed.

These kids are playing you. They’re running the show and you’re culling the herd for them.

[-] GilgameshCatBeard@lemmy.ca 0 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

So you want me to post a link to one of my alt account publicly? Don’t you have a mod log of complaints? Check for the one where multiple reports of harassment were submitted.

That’d be the dipshit you’re doing nothing about.

[-] jordanlund@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

No, you can PM me anything you'd like me to look at, just keep in mind, as a moderator I can only take action in the communities I'm assigned to, but I can reach out to other mods and site admins.

[-] GilgameshCatBeard@lemmy.ca 0 points 10 months ago
[-] jordanlund@lemmy.world 0 points 10 months ago

I see the new reports, I'll PM you.

[-] jordanlund@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

So this is weird, I got an alternate version of the modlog to load and it shows no action taken against you at all (at least under this user name).

PM me the details and I'll raise it with the site admins.

[-] GilgameshCatBeard@lemmy.ca 0 points 10 months ago

I’ve got several accounts. Yeaterday, I saw one of my posts was removed. And there was nothing in my notifications. Just…. “Removed.”

[-] SoylentBlake@lemm.ee 1 points 10 months ago

I got banned from r/politics for saying killing Nazi's is a great American tradition, and in my case, a family tradition, all my grandparents, and my wives grandparents were all overseas as part of the war effort.

If you want to find who's really running a joint, find out who you can't offend.

[-] GilgameshCatBeard@lemmy.ca -1 points 10 months ago

And the irony isn’t lost on me that you were summoned here to respond. Everyone here reports anything that goes against the hive mind. It’s absurd.

[-] jordanlund@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

OMG you have no idea! I wish the report queue was as public as the modlog, but that would cause more problems as it identifies the reporter.

[-] Mango@lemmy.world 11 points 10 months ago

Humanity has long deserved their doom.

They vote for him because they would act like him if they could.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning
