Rules:

A torch is never mentioned past the title. I'm disappointed every time.
I made a post complaining about political articles using "slam" on Fark back in 2004. I wouldn't hold your breath that journalists will stop using it anytime soon.
Now I'm sad. Thanks a lot for slamming my dreams of better journalism.
Journalists generally don't write their headlines. It's usually copy editors from what I've heard.
The only politician I know of who actually slammed anyone was Greg Gianforte. I always feel compelled to throw that reminder out when this comes up.

I mean, Trump himself was slammed by Stone Cold Steve Austin in WWE.
In like 5-10 years lawmakers will be "roasting". I'd enjoy it if they all did actual roasts outside of the corespondents dinner.
I may have to learn how to make Lemmy bots so I can build a Slamometer. Increments a counter every time a headline says someone slammed something.
I think that's worth a try. If only to really get an idea of how much it's used by everyone.

You know what's more boring than journalists recycling metaphors? The inevitable complaints people pay about it every. single. time.
It's not about being boring. It's about calling out lazy journalism and this news trend of pretending like anything is changing while no progress actually happens.
This entire article is just saying they got mad and everyone still voted along party lines. That's a whole lot of nothing for such a sensationalist title.
I'm all for calling that out every single time.
