She had surgery about 6 months ago and hasn't been seen in public since. Conspiracy theories started spreading about why she hadn't been seen in ages, so a week ago or so they released a very Photoshopped photo of her and her kids that was so bad it had to be retracted and fuelled the conspiracy theory stuff even more.

And now I guess finally they're admitting it's cancer. They could've handled this whole thing a lot better.

It hasn't been 6 months. She was seen on Christmas. Then nothing and sometime in late January they announced she was having a planned abdominal surgery and wouldn't be in public until after Easter.

So was the photoshop thing to cover up that she had cancer or was it more of a touch up removing blemishes kind of thing that went wrong?

I think it was basically a bunch of photos stitched together, probably because they couldn't get all the kids to smile at the same time.
