For as much as I admire Gene Roddenberry's utopian vision for Star Trek, that guy had some serious
when it came to women. Many women who worked with him have stories about it. Kate Mulgrew even outright called him a misogynist.
Gene died before Voyager was conceived of. Are you sure you're not thinking of Rick Berman? Chances are Gene Rodennberry and Kate Mulgrew never met.
You're right, Kate Mulgrew never met Roddenberry (although she did call him a misogynist), and I probably shouldn't have included that bit. But Gene Roddenberry being a sexist and a perv behind the scenes is definitely a thing, because there are stories from people who have worked with him. It sucks, because I'm a huge Trekkie. I still enjoy the shows though.
