'If passed by the Senate and signed into law, the bill would broaden the legal definition of antisemitism to include the “targeting of the state of Israel, conceived as a Jewish collectivity.'"

Pardon me, but what is this horseshit?

This is happening under democrats tho....

[-] sploosh@lemmy.world 26 points 2 years ago

Democrats are right of center. America has no major left wing party.

[-] BadmanDan@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago

Holy shit, this app is so much more politically educated than Reddit.

[-] AstridWipenaugh@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Heh Lemmy is just left of center so it seems better. You'll reconsider your position when you meet the tankies.

Reddit is full of resistance liberals

[-] BreadstickNinja@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago

This is happening in the House that is controlled by Republicans. Unfortunately a lot of Democrats voted for it too, but the only meaningful opposition also came from Dems. So Dems are split while Rs are all in on the genocide.

[-] Woozythebear@lemmy.world -3 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

There is like 15 dems in opposition and hundreds for it.

[-] BreadstickNinja@lemmy.world 7 points 2 years ago

95 Dems voted yes. 92 voted "present," 13 voted "nay," and 13 did not vote.

Republicans - who again control the chamber - voted 216-1 in favor.

I stand by the accuracy of my comment.

[-] Woozythebear@lemmy.world -1 points 2 years ago

Yeah so like I said there are only like 15 against it. If all Republicans in the senate vote for it there only needs to be like 10 dems to say yes for it to pass and if we look at percentages it becomes clear this bill easily has enough votes and Biden will 100% sign it.

You thinking it won't is just cope.

Do you know what fascism actually is?

[-] pantyhosewimp@lemmynsfw.com 2 points 2 years ago

It irks me also that the vocabulary-lazy folks account for 85% of the population because they constantly steal words from us that have specific narrow meanings. My advice, to help aid in our mental health, is to assume that every use of “fascism” really means “authoritarianism”.
