Which version of eMule in [current year]? (lemmy.world)

According to Wikipedia, the lastest version of eMule was released in 2010, but "official forum users" developed an updated version as of 2017.

Is this information up to date? Is that still true? I'd feel a lot better installing something on my computer that was last updated at least in this decade, which version of eMule should i pick, if any?

I suggest to use mldonkey. The UX is very different so it takes some time to accustom to it but it is very powerful software:

it connects to more than one server
the search is better
it is very stable Be sure to use the latest version, keep an updated server list (or fetch them from clients and servers) and to configure kad.

It works very good for niche stuff, especially if you have a community around the stuff being shared
