Sadly, I don't see how this points to that, feels like it's the exact opposite.
Yeah, the backlash would be massive but it will probably happen. Wonder if he's still got the quality required for United though - he hasn't played professional football in what, a year and a half? Might get loaned out somewhere.
I wouldn't be surprised if he plays for United again at this point, Adidas just signed a massive deal.
With the sentiment shared online regarding Mendy's case and how some footballers came out in his defense publicly (even though obviously Greenwood's case is much-much worse) I think this piece is kind of a test of waters by United, to see if there is any massive backlash and if there is none, or rather if there is support for Greenwood (which sadly, there will be), they will play the "he made a mistake card, everyone makes mistakes, let's forgive and move on" card.
