Do you think the COVID thing he says he has is a smoke screen? It'll be announced that it's actually Long COVID and it would not be wise to run a gruelling campaign with Long COVID for health reasons? So to save face that's how he'll pull out?
If he came out and said "I'm tired" then dropped out, I think everyone would understand.
Just need the Doctor to ask "Don't you think he looks tired?"
