you mean Disney (or any capitalist film production company) wants to make as much money as possible without regard to the actual film?
To be fair, this has happened as long as people have been adapting stories to film (especially with books). Sometimes you have to cut, composite, or add characters to make the story work in a different medium or tell the version of the story you want to tell
