Same, but with the moving pathways at the airport
Me in either case:
"Walk the left, stand on the right, dipshit"
I've seen Americans shout this in countries that drive on the left side of the road. Everyone looked embarrassed for them.
Oh for sure for sure. Definitely reverse when traveling in countries that ~~get it wrong~~ want to remain a UK colony.
Sadly since COVID I've not been able to do much international traveling. But I do still get routed through Chicago O'Hare, which adds insult to injury
(Also I'm just joking about that colonies jab. The only "correct" way is the way the community at large has decided in a particular area.)
Even if it's a joke, how wrong are you?
I am Japan wrong lol, pretty much everyone else on that map was affected by colonialism. I mean, Japan was affected too, but Japan's response to colonialism was "that's a good idea, we'll do it even harder" so I don't think they count as another arm of Britannia.
I was actually surprised when I was in the UK last year and people were standing on the right in the escalators. But they walked on the left in crowded places. I was expecting all pedestrian traffic to be left-sided, but it was more mixed, like their measurement systems...
I don't think there's any consistent association between side of the road and side of the escalator. E.g. within Japan, I think either Kansai or maybe Osaka specifically does it opposite to most of the rest of the country.
