Agreed but unfortunately it's the only thing that can be used on a machine with the specs and QoL of an m1 air at that price
never used an m1, but i have an m2 for work and it is ass. stutters and does weird shit all the time
i call foul on that. this has to be because your employer installed crowdstrike or some shit on it. The apple silicon chips are best-in-class and deliver the best performance per watt.
ok this could be it, i guess. they have some form of device management tool.
Is it an m2 pro?
The M1 pro I have for work sucks too
yes
That’s wild! The m1 not-pros I’ve used are insane.
Asahi Linux exists and actually exceeds MacOS with OpenGL 4.6 support and a vulkan driver. The only things that are missing is device support for microphones and usb-c displays.
The penguin stays winning.
MacOS is a treat-based operating system.
Those are pretty super important to a lot of people
true but that's all in the context of reverse engineering everything from scratch with zero guiding documentation from Apple, which is basically the first of its kind in the world.
You can run Linux on an m1 air.
I'm ngl Linux casual use is even worse than macos
Sorry, I can't hear you. I'm too busy doing basic things like creating files from the file manager, maximizing windows, and adjusting volume per application.
Sorry, I can't hear you. My audio drivers broke again.
Try using a distro released in the last 15 years then.
Ironically, Ubuntu has been the worst in terms of audio drivers and has broken around 5 times on me. Arch has been a lot better as it's only broken once on me and it was a Bluetooth thing. MacOS does break a lot less than Linux though
