MODERATORS
Similar thing happened to me. Got interviewed, told them my salary expectation, they turned me down and immediately published a new upper bound for the job's salary which just happened to be exactly 1000 € less per year than what I had asked for.
1000 is a bargain, I asked for $10.4k less than what they were offering and they ran with it
