To justify its decision the Biden administration even 'leaked' an intelligence assessment which warned of allowing such:
Intelligence agencies concluded that granting Ukraine’s request to use Western missiles against targets deep in Russia could prompt forceful retaliation while not fundamentally changing the course of the war.
Reality asserts itself like a brick to the face. lmao
To be fair, I think his main goal was to show that he personally still has support from the US. This gives him an upper hand in the palace intrigue that's going on in Ukraine right now. Ultimately, he just wants some breathing room to plan his escape when the whole thing collapses.
You think he ever stops and wonders how he went from his pre-election reconciliation with Russia platform to planning his exile so he doesn't get murdered by angry neo-nazis?
There is a clip where he goes to visit troops after getting elected, and one of the fascists just laughs at him when he says he's the president and the army has to do what he says. So, I think it was made clear to him who was actually running things right from the start. It's possible that he genuinely believed his platform before the election, but given who his backers were it should've been obvious that they had no interest in any sort of reconciliation.
Do you have the clip by chance? Or better still, is there a cache of all the videos, articles and posts of Ukraine being a "totally normal democracy"? I remember there was a giant shareable document breaking down and debunking the Uyghur genocide myth a few years ago.
I tried to find it, but forget what to look for and now most search results give you stuff after the war. I remember it was him standing in the field somewhere talking to a guy in uniform, saying how he's the president and they have to do what he says. But I completely forget what the context for the whole thing was or even the year it happened.
I wish I'd seen it. Sounds darkly funny.
lol yeah it's really something, you can just see him deflate when he realizes he has no power
