Kind of makes me wonder what other organisations and things throughout history were originally named after some kind of in joke or meme that has been lost to history.

I took that habit from Dwarf Fortress tbh. Every megaproject or spanning organization must either be acronym'd or backronym'd with a dwarf-themed, Doofenschmirtz-esque name that explains what it is and what it does.

I physically hate knowing the blood emerald melon man does the same thing.
