I'm new to cryptocurrecy and I'm wanting to finally start using Monero. At least a year ago, I heard it was possible to buy XMR completely anonymously using Amazon gift cards bought from retail stores using cash, but I can't seem to find any information about that online anymore. From what I've heard, you can use your XMR to get some kind of card which you're able to use in place of a typical debit mastercard and thus be able to buy groceries using Monero.

I would appreciate if anyone could direct me to recources on how to do these things; most importantly the part about buying the XMR anonymously with cash in the first place.

I don't have any Crypto. If I go the Matrix route, what am I supposed to trade with them if I don't own any other crypto?

With the Matrix route, you trade them Fiat for their crypto, but the most you can trade is 0.15, so that if either party gets scammed for any reason, there's not a large financial loss to either person.
