since people are gonna be askin, I believe that's Tosin Abasi, guitarist of the band Animals as Leaders

I have the fairbuds as my travel headphones. Overall very disappointed with these. The mic sometimes works and sometimes doesn't (both on PC and android). I have replaced the shitty plastic pieces on the sides three times, and the fourth is already cracking.

I got this recommendation from a colleague too and it seems really good but it sure is pricey. Were you able to take full advantage of all the fancy features with linux?

I made the mistake of believing some dumb guide online that recommended the Razer BlackShark v2 Pro for Linux. Literally the volume control is broken out of the box lol.

I just want a wireless headset. For listening to audio. And a mic. Don't care for fancy features. Apparently too much to ask for a linux user.

What are y'all using and how is it working for you?

Windows-coded error (discuss.tchncs.de)

Apparently, importing ~/.config/kglobalshortcutsrc is enough for the shortcut to show up in the System Settings, but not enough to load the shortcut. Disabling, applying and re-enabling and applying again also doesn't help, and neither does re-assigning to the same shortcut, which resulted in this lovely error dialog.

My parents are looking into getting their own NAS to replace iCloud. I don't really have much experience with that, and zero experience with apple stuff. They are also not very techy, but at least enthusiastic.

Can sombody recommend easy NAS products where you basically just buy a device, do some basic setup, and then it functions as your at-home cloud? I don't want to get roped into doing too much admin for them, but they do already have DDNS for some other smart home crap. Bonus if it's non-US tech.

Personally I run a nextcloud server on a VPS that I could expand, that's not quite selfhosted, I don't know if that integrates well with apple though, are they better off if I just onboard them onto that?

Cheers in advance

Hi, so I usually use the US/International keyboard layout (mobile/android,heliboard) However this doesn't let me write many European languages, even those using the latin script. It's honestly terrible. How do I get the Polish L and the C and S with an upside down ^ type thing on it from slovenian? halp

Can we stop making every little thing about ADHD? This is just a common way to do arithmetic

The thing is, once car-centrism is established and normalized, it's so hard to explain to people what the real problem is. Clearly the kid did a stupid thing and ran into the road when it shouldn't. Clearly the driver had no bad intentions.

But somehow the thought never occurs to people that kids (and adults) will always be stupid and we shouldn't strive to make a world where nobody makes mistakes. We should strive to make a world where making mistakes doesn't kill you.

The CEO of Windscribe is an Elon stan so you didn't switch to a more left-leaning provider than Proton.

I don't care much for the guy, but the fact he gets arrested for the service is a bad sign for private messaging in Europe.

the whole math of "stole $500 million" is stupid. That is hypothetical money. It is just not true that all people would have purchased instead without megaupload.

"Which generated $175 million for the site" that's more like it. Making money with other people's content is shitty and Kim knew it was happening.

I don't think he should be extradited but that is at least a decent reason.

Flaws:

  • fails to address leap years
  • fails to address 365th day
  • moon cycle will still slowly deviate
  • retains clunky 7-day week that doesn't interact will with decimal counting system

I like it, but I got an even better proposal. Weeks should have ten day weeks, and each month should have 3 weeks. summer/winter solstice and the spring/autumn equinox as well as new years day are special holidays that fall between months and interrupt the week cycle. In leap years, new years is two days.

The 1st, 11th and 21st of each month are now Mondays, so you can tell the weekday of any date. Months are the same length just like in Jesse's proposal, but an even 30 instead of a clunky 28.

I've thought about this a lot
